67th Anniversary of the International YCW: Our Commitment to Act for Fair Work, Equality and Decent Life

August 25th is a reminder to the Young Christian Workers of how much the international movement has meant and of the importance of staying organized in a space that allows us to transmit our diverse concerns and life situations.

For thousands of young people who have gone through the YCW at the international level, it means more than just sharing concerns, it is also a place where thousands of young people have been able to find a new meaning to their lives, a movement where we can transmit our dreams and aspirations through collective struggle.

Remembering each year the anniversary of the IYCW, which was established as an international movement in 1957 at the first World Assembly in Rome, takes us back to different times when the movement has survived situations and changes in the world and society. However, the YCW is a movement that was born in 1925, and it has been expanding all over the world since then. And throughout history we have established this day as the International Day of the YCW.

Today, almost 100 years later, the IYCW continues to establish grassroots groups of young workers, because today's world of work does not offer better conditions for young workers. We continue to fight and take action because new forms of exploitation, unemployment and instability are continually being generated. We continue to be the agents of change and therefore we will continue to work to protect and fight for the dignity of young workers.

As YCW members of all times, we celebrate this date with enthusiasm and joy, reminding ourselves every year that we are still here and that we have a commitment to every young worker.
