Indonesia is currently facing a very critical situation. The wave of crisis affecting society is increasingly felt across various sectors. The soaring prices of basic necessities, the growing tax burdens—with some regional leaders raising taxes by more than 250%—inadequate wages, massive layoffs, unclear job status, and the lack of job opportunities have become the main triggers of public unrest. In addition, unresolved poverty alleviation efforts and recurring natural disasters are worsening the situation.
Welcome to the website of the International Young Christian Workers, a movement organised and led by and for young workers in more than 40 different countries in the world
By Ludovicus Mardiyono, former IYCW’s President
In a world caught between capitalist machinery and spiritual void, the Young Christian Workers (YCW) movement offers not merely an alternative, but a prophetic engagement of faith, community, and justice.
Despite a busy schedule surrounding the 100th anniversary celebrations, the three delegates from JOC Nicaragua undertook a visit to Germany afterwards.

The International Young Christian Workers (IYCW) is celebrating its 100th anniversary. This was an opportunity to talk to its president, herself a child of the IYCW, about the current and future challenges facing this movement, which she described as a “school of life.”
As part of the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of the YCW, a ceremony was held in the Hautes Fagnes Plateau (High Fens), in the Walloon Region of Belgium, on June 24, 2025.
